PTG Recruitment- Your time is just as important as your money. The PTG is a completely volunteer run organization. To meet our goals, we need a lot of human power. Check out all the roles needed to make the work of the PTG happen in the McGlynn PTG Volunteer Positions 2019-2020 descriptions. If you have a few extra hours a month and want help us bring enrichment and community to the McGlynn Elementary School, please contact Bailey Schendell (email@example.com).
Parent Directory- We now have 28% participation in AtoZConnect. The higher participation in the parent directory the more useful it becomes. If you haven't signed up yet please take a minute.
Directions to sign up:
Go to join.atozconnect.com and click on “Sign Up Now."
Enter the school zip code then select our school from the "Select Organization" drop down menu.
Complete the form to send in your join request.
Room Parent Recruitment- The PTG is still recruiting Room Parents for each classroom. All the research show that having parents in the classroom increases academic success for all students. If you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom a few times over the next year, check out our website (www.mcglynnptg.org) for more information and to sign up.
Field Trips and In-School Presentations- The Enrichment Committee are working with our wonderful Mcglynn teachers to put together a plan for this years field trips and in-school presentations. If you have a line on something that you think would be cool for our students please let us know. Contact Karey Cropper (firstname.lastname@example.org).
After School Clubs- Last year the PTG started to bring in different after school Clubs for our students. This year we plan to expand that program. Here are some plans we have in the works:
1. Lego Club with Playwell will be coordinated by Karey Cropper. Will need at least one parent volunteer per class.
Fall- 7 Weeks, Wednesday 1:50-3:20pm, Starting Oct 16th- Nov 27th (1st and 2nd Graders) $105/ Student with 12 student minimum
Winter- 8 Weeks $120/ Student
Spring- 8 Weeks $120/ Student
2. Fencing with Guard Up will be coordinated by Sharon Tomasulo for 4th and 5th graders. If we could provide 2 or 3 chaperones (to go with their instructor), they could take about 15 kids in the program. They'd do a kind of adventure-based lesson--there's some options there--history of different kinds of warriors? Stuff like that. They would basically put together what we need.
Looking to start the first week of October for 6 weeks, $120 per kid.
3. Craft Club coordinated by Renee Hanley. Will meet once per week using recycled goods to complete crafts. Number of students depends on volunteers. Minimal cost. 6-8 Week program.
To run these programs we are going to need some parent volunteers. If you have any interest in helping out with these programs please let us know (email@example.com). Signups for these clubs will go out over the next few weeks.
Annual Membership Drive- The PTG is continues to run it's Annual Membership Drive. We are a nonprofit group with the mission to enhance and support the educational experience at the McGlynn Elementary School. Our fundraising goal this year is $40 per student. The money we raise goes towards enrichment such as field trips, in-school presentations, and Fun Day. If you are able, please consider giving generously to support enriched educational experiences for your child. You send a donation in your students communication folder in an envelope marked "Mcglynn PTG" or you can donate online here. We take small and large donations, with much appreciation.
City-Wide Electronic Recycle Drive, September 28th 10am-1pm -The McGlynn PTG is taking the lead in the first fundraiser of the school year for the City-wide Elementary Alliance. This Alliance, among the four Medford Elementary Schools, raised the McGlynn over $7,000 last year, $500 from the Electronics Recycle Drive. For the Electronic Recycle Drive, people pay a fee to drop off their old electronics. All proceeds from City-wide Alliance fundraisers are split equally between the four elementary schools.
