Our first meeting this year will be Tuesday, October 1st at 6:00pm in the school library. We will be continuing to provide childcare during meeting this year.

Your time is just as important as your money. The PTG is a completely volunteer run organization. To meet our goals, we need a lot of human power. Check out all the roles needed to make the work of the PTG happen in the McGlynn PTG Volunteer Positions 2019-2020 descriptions. If you have a few extra hours a month and want help us bring enrichment and community to the McGlynn Elementary School, please contact Bailey Schendell (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Parent Directory- We've made it to 30% participation in AtoZConnect. Last week we also used the text messaging feature of the program for the first time to remind families about Hat Day. The higher participation in the parent directory the more useful it becomes. If you haven't signed up yet please take a minute. Please encourage any parents you know to sign up.

Room Parent Recruitment- The PTG is still recruiting Room Parents for each classroom. All the research show that having parents in the classroom increases academic success for all students. If you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom a few times over the next year, you can sign up here.
Field Trips and In-School Presentations- The Enrichment Committee are working with our wonderful Mcglynn teachers to put together a plan for this years field trips and in-school presentations. If you have a line on something that you think would be cool for our students please let us know. Contact Karey Cropper (email@example.com).
After School Clubs- Stay tuned over the next couple weeks as signup for forms for Lego Club, Fencing and Craft Club will be going home in your students communication folders. We are still looking for parent volunteers to help us facilitate these awesome activities for our students. If you have any interest in helping out with these programs please let us know (firstname.lastname@example.org). Signups for these clubs will go out over the next few weeks.
Annual Membership Drive- The PTG continues to run it's Annual Membership Drive. We are a nonprofit group with the mission to enhance and support the educational experience at the McGlynn Elementary School. Our fundraising goal this year is $40 per student. The money we raise goes towards enrichment such as field trips, in-school presentations, and Fun Day. If you are able, please consider giving generously to support enriched educational experiences for your child. You send a donation in your students communication folder in an envelope marked "Mcglynn PTG" or you can donate online here. We take small and large donations, with much appreciation.
City-Wide Electronic Recycle Drive, September 28th 10am-1pm -The McGlynn PTG is taking the lead in the first fundraiser of the school year for the City-wide Elementary Alliance. This Alliance, among the four Medford Elementary Schools, raised the McGlynn over $7,000 last year, $500 from the Electronics Recycle Drive. For the Electronic Recycle Drive, people pay a fee to drop off their old electronics. All proceeds from City-wide Alliance fundraisers are split equally between the four elementary schools. Annual Pie Fundraiser, Starting October 1st- Stay tuned for more information about our Annual Thanksgiving Pie and Bread Fundraiser.
Jingle Bell Run- The Jingle Bell Run is on! Last year we raised $886 though sponsorships and participants choose Mcglynn PTG as their charity when registering. If you want to be part of our McGlynn Team you can register for the race here. If you know of a local business that might be interested in sponsoring the McGlynn team please reach out to email@example.com or Stephanie Tapia on Facebook. Thank you Stephanie for taking the lead on this awesome fundraiser.
Mustang Spirit Shop- The Mustang Spirit Store provides everything you need to show your McGlynn Mustang Spirit. This year we have created an online store as well as expanded our merchandise. You can also order merchandise by filling out this form and sending in with your child.
Textile Recycle Bin- Do you have old clothing, shoes, or curtains you need to get rid of? Drop off your textiles, whatever the condition, any time in the white bin in the school parking lot marked “McGlynn Elementary.". The PTG gets paid by the pound for whatever is in the bin. Check out our website (www.mcglynnptg.org) for a full list of what’s accepted.
Boxtops for Education- We ask families to collect Box Top labels from participating products and send them into school. We submit the labels by November 1st and March 1st of each year. The PTG receives 10 cents per label submitted. Check out the Box Tops website for ways to earn even more for our students.
Amazon Smile- Everyone orders from Amazon!! The PTG asks for your support by selecting the McGlynn Elementary Parent Teacher Group by logging on to www.smile.amazon.com. By doing so, Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to the McGlynn PTG which in turn will be used to fund fun and enriching activities for our students.
Back to School Night, September 18th- Back to School Night is a great opportunity to see your student’s classroom and meet their teachers. Mrs. Guarino and Mrs. Andrews also give a short presentation about McGlynn Elementary School expectations. The PTG runs several activities during Back to School:
PTG Information Table- Stop by and talk to active PTG parents about what the PTG is about and how you can get involved. You can also pick up a CORI form for the year (required to volunteer at school).
Cleaning Supply Drive- Did you know that teachers are expected to supply tissues, paper towels and other cleaning supplies for their classrooms? The PTG does a year round donation drive for cleaning supplies. Donations can be dropped off in the PTG room., located across from the cafeteria. Needed items include: Tissues, Paper towels, Hand Sanitizer, Disinfecting Wipes, and Cleaning Spray. You can also order from our Amazon Wishlist and your items will be shipped directly to the school.
Mustang Spirit Shop- This will be the first opportunity to get your Mustang Spiritwear. Stop by and pick up a t-shirt or sweatshirt so your student can show their Mustang pride.
Mustang Baked Goods- The McGlynn Elementary Community has some extraordinary bakers. Stop by and pick up a delicious treat to take home. If you are interested in donating baked goods to be sold please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cultural Awareness Night- This year the PTG will be sponsoring a Cultural Awareness Night on October 25th in conjunction with the McGlynn Cultural Awareness Week. We are looking for families willing to share parts of their culture with our community. If your family has something to share or you want to help plan this evening for the Mcglynn Community celebrate our diversity please reach out to Bailey (email@example.com).
Harvest Your Energy Festival- Mayor Stephanie M Burke presents the 10th Annual Harvest Your Energy Festival on Saturday, October 19, 12-3pm, behind the McGlynn School. The festival will feature electronics recycling, paper shredding, textile recycling and “Windy’s” 10th birthday and the Annual Green Awards – we are currently taking nominations for the Green Awards for businesses, residents and non-profits and we are looking for a few more good candidates!
