Happy New Year!- We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break and are looking forward to an exciting New Year. Welcome 2019!
Calendar Update- We are continuously updating our McGlynn PTG 2018-2019 Schedule. You can check it out online or on our bulletin board in the PTG Room at the school. If you use Google Calendar you can subscribe to the McGlynn Elementary Google PTG Calendar.
HELP WANTED - WINTERFEST - The PTG is recruiting for a volunteer to help organize the Winterfest on February 1st. Winterfest is one our Family Fun Nights held at the school. This years theme will be Family Game Night. Email email@example.com if you are interested in helping out.
HELP WANTED - AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM - The PTG is looking to expand the After School Program, but we need parent volunteers. This Fall, we piloted the "Escape the Classroom" Math Club. This Spring, we hope to add 2-3 programs. In order to do so, we need parent volunteers. If you have 2 hours a week during the afternoon for a 6-8 week period, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chuck-E-Cheese Fundraiser- On January 9th from 3-9pm, the McGlynn is fundraising at Chuck-E-Cheese. Mention McGlynn Elementary School and 20% of what you spend will be donated back to our school! Chuck E. himself will be coming to the school the day of the fundraiser to visit the students!
Sky Zone Fundraiser- On February 13th from 3-8pm, bring your students to Jump for the McGlynn at Sky Zone.
Mustang Spirit Store Holiday Pop-up - The Spirited Store Holiday Pop-up was a great success. We sold about $1,000 worth of merchandise! We also tested out our new POS system and can now confirm that the PTG can take credit cards using Square. If you weren't able to make the pop-up and still want to get one of our awesome new sweatshirts or car magnets, check out our online store.
First McGlynn Elementary Read-a-thon- This year, the McGlynn PTG will be sponsoring their First Annual Read-a-thon. Students will be asked to read in order to raise money for the McGlynn Community. The read-a-thon schedule will be as follows:
January 21-25: McGlynn Read-a-thon Sponsor Sign Up
January 28: McGlynn Read-a-thon Starts
February 1: McGlynn Read-a-thon Ends
February 4-8: McGlynn Read-a-thon Fund Collection

Disney Raffle Winner- The grand prize winner is Lynne Freitas and the second place winner is Maura Kennedy - congratulations! We sold over $24,000 in tickets and each elementary school will receive over $4,000 after taxes and expenses, which is a wonderful benefit to our schools. Thank you again for the outstanding participation!
Box Top Raffle Winners- Thank you to everyone who participated in the Box Tops Raffle! We had a total of 147 entries which is $147 towards our $1,000 Box Tops goal. Our 6 winners were: Dominic Pietrolung (Simcox), Ryan Paz (Ewing), Karl Artates (Murphy), Sophie Levine (Dimauro), Salem Abusheiha (Cullen), and Adam Kes (O’Brien). Ms. Simcox class won the class competition and will collect their prize soon.
Social Emotional Curriculum- Mrs. Andrew's Social Emotional Learning will focus on Respect over the next two months. Respect is one of the McGlynn Elementary's 5 core values. She has planned some fun activities that will tie into MLK Day and Valentine's Day to help our students learn about respecting themselves and others.
