End of the Year Dates- With the last day of school set for June 13th the dates for end of the year activities keep shifting. We are continuously updating our McGlynn PTG 2018-2019 Schedule. You can check it out online via the link above or on our bulletin board in the PTG Room at the school. If you use Google Calendar, you can subscribe to the McGlynn Elementary Google PTG Calendar.
Volunteer Opportunities- We have yet another end of the year volunteer opportunity! The 5th Grade v. Teachers Basketball Game will be on April 26th. We will need volunteers to help with selling raffle tickets and concessions. Other upcoming volunteer opportunities include:
Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10th)- Volunteers will be needed to cover classrooms so the teachers can enjoy their appreciation luncheon. We will also need help setting up other appreciation activities throughout the week.
City-wide Electronics Recycling Drive (May 11th 10am-1pm)- We will need volunteers to help operate the drive.
Ice Cream Social (Thursday May 16th)- Volunteers are needed for planning this event as well as for covering activity stations during the event.
Fun Day (Friday June 7th)- Volunteers will be running activity stations such as obstacle courses, dunk tank, balloon toss, or handing out slush.
If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure you have a CORI on file with the school. CORI must be completed every year. You can download a CORI Form and send it with a copy of your photo ID in your child's communications folder. Windows on Wildlife visits Kindergarten- Back in February the PTG sponsored the Kindergarten students visit from Hattie and Ranger the owls as part of the Windows on Wildlife Life Cycles programs. The students learned about the life cycle of owls and asked lots of great questions.
High Tech High Touch visits 1st Grade- Last week the PTG sponsored High Tech High Touch's visit to the first grade and taught the students all about the solar system and the seasons.
5th Grade V. Teachers Basketball Game- The 5th Grade v Teachers Basketball Game will be April 26th. Doors will open at 5:45pm. The game starts at 6:30. There will be some great raffles and concessions before the game starts. This is a super fun event for the whole Mcglynn Community. Proceeds from this event go to support the Teacher Driven Projects Program. This program gives teachers small grants to help fund their innovative ideas in our community. Tickets will be on sale starting Monday, April 22nd.
Chipotle Fundraiser- Feed the family Chipotle for dinner on April 29th, 4-8pm, and the PTG gets 33% of the proceeds!
Ice Cream Social- The Ice Cream Social will be on Thursday May 16th from 6-8pm. If you you are interested in being on the planning committee, please reach out to Bailey Schendell (email@example.com).
Spring Room Parent Week- The Room Parent fun has continued. Ms. Smock's class made theraputty this week. A huge shout out to Robyn Holdsworth Altman for filling in as room parent in a pinch!
Teacher Appreciation Week- Teacher Appreciation Week will be May 6th-10th this year. We are working on a lot of great ideas for letting the McGlynn Teachers and staff know how much we appreciate all the work they do. Fun Day- Fun Day is scheduled for Friday, June 7th. Fun Day is the McGlynn's version of field day. There is a bunch of outdoor activities, including bouncy houses, a dunk tank, and balloon toss.
