PTG Elections- The PTG is recruiting for the Executive Board. We currently have both Treasurer positions open for the 2019-2020 school year. Hopefully, Renee Hanley will chose to put herself on the ballot for her currently appointed position. If you have a few extra hours a month and want help us bring enrichment and community to the McGlynn Elementary School, please contact Bailey Schendell (firstname.lastname@example.org).
End of the Year Dates- With the last day of school set for June 13th, the dates for end of the year activities keep shifting. We are continuously updating our McGlynn PTG 2018-2019 Schedule. You can check it out online via the link above or on our bulletin board in the PTG Room at the school. If you use Google Calendar, you can subscribe to the McGlynn Elementary Google PTG Calendar.
Volunteer Opportunities- Come help make all the end of the year activities happen!
The 5th Grade v. Teachers Basketball Game will be this Friday, April 26th. We will need volunteers to help with selling raffle tickets and concessions. Sign-up here!
Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10th)- Volunteers will be needed to cover classrooms so the teachers can enjoy their appreciation luncheon. We will also need help setting up other appreciation activities throughout the week.
Ice Cream Social (Thursday, May 16th)- Volunteers are needed for planning this event as well as for covering activity stations during the event.
Fun Day (Friday, June 7th)- Volunteers will be running activity stations such as obstacle courses, dunk tank, balloon toss, or handing out slush.
If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure you have a CORI on file with the school. CORI must be completed every year. You can download a CORI Form and send it with a copy of your photo ID in your child's communications folder. LEGO Afterschool Club- This week we start the LEGO afterschool club for the K through 3rd graders. The LEGO Club has such a big response that we added a second class. We are excited to work with Play-Well TEKnologies to bring this activity to the McGlynn community. We hope that this is the start to bring afterschool options to McGlynn students. Thank you Karey Cropper for all your efforts to make this club a reality!
5th Grade V. Teachers Basketball Game- The 5th Grade v Teachers Basketball Game is this Friday, April 26th. Doors will open at 5:45pm. The game starts at 6:30. There will be some great raffles and concessions before the game starts. Ths is a super fun event for the whole McGlynn Community. Proceeds from this event go to support the Teacher Driven Projects Program. This program gives teachers small grants to help fund their innovative ideas in our community. Tickets will be on sale starting tomorrow, Monday, April 22nd.
Chipotle Fundraiser- Feed the family Chipotle for dinner on April 29th, 4-8pm, and the PTG gets 33% of the proceeds!
Ice Cream Social- The Ice Cream Social will be on Thursday, May 16th from 6-8pm. If you you are interested in being on the planning committee, please reach out to Bailey Schendell (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Read-a-thon Winners- Before the break Mr. G.S.'s class enjoyed a PTG sponsored pizza party to celebrate their Read-a-thon victory. This class read more than double any other class. When asked their secret they said they all added 10 minutes to their nightly reading goal.
Teacher Appreciation Week- Teacher Appreciation Week will be May 6th-10th this year. We are working on a lot of great ideas for letting the McGlynn Teachers and staff know how much we appreciate all the work they do. Fun Day- Fun Day is scheduled for Friday, June 7th. Fun Day is the McGlynn's version of field day. There is a bunch of outdoor activities, including bouncy houses, a dunk tank, and balloon toss.
