Dear McGlynn Families,
The PTG Executive Board would like to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
You may have noticed that we have fallen behind in our communications lately. I want to apologize for this and let you know that we have a plan. I want to thank Michelle Lemmons for agreeing to take over communications on McGlynnptg.org. Hopefully, with Michelle’s help, we will be able to update you all more regularly on PTG activities.
The PTG has had a very successful Fall 2019. A few of the highlights include:
We have received a grant from the Medford City casino money for $6700 to buy a new Chromecart for the school!
Karey Cropper and Nadia Purfory have been working on a grant from the Medford Community Preservation Committee to do a design study for our playground. Prospects are looking good!
Renee Hanley received a grant from the Medford Arts Council to fund our 4th graders doing a songwriting workshop!
We had a successful First Annual Cultural Appreciation Night! Check out more photos from the evening here!
We have successfully expanded our after school club options to include Hip Hop Club (Thank you Bindi Doshi), Recycled Arts and Craft Club (Thank you Renee Hanley), and Sword Play Club (Thank you Sharon Tomasulo).
We have run several fundraisers including:
We need to raise $26K to continue to fund field trips, in-school presentations, Fun Day, and other activities that our community has become accustomed to. We are on our way but slightly behind our fundraising goal for this point in the year. Please think about participating in upcoming activities so we can meet our goals and do even more for Mcglynn students!
We have lots of fun stuff on the agenda for the Winter and Spring. The Read-a-thon is in full swing right now. On February 5th the PTG is sponsoring an Adult Paint Night at Muse Paintbar in Assembly Row. On February 13th will be our annual Winterfest. We are planning another family game night, which was a total blast last year. We are currently nailing down the dates for our annual Scholastic book fair. It should be happening in early March. On March 12th and 13th the Citywide Alliance and the Medford Middle Schools will be bringing back the Harlem Wizards to play the Medford Muggles, a team of teachers and staff from all over Medford. These are just a few of the upcoming activities. For more information on what’s coming up stay tuned to your student’s communication folder, facebook, and look for more updates on our website.
Finally, we are always in need of more help. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work”. If you would like to help out at any of our activities it is always super appreciated. Please reach out to email@example.com or just show up at our next General Membership meeting on February 3rd at 6pm (Childcare is provided). Thank you to everyone who is already helping make the work of the PTG happen.
Looking forward to a FANTASTIC winter and spring with my Mcglynn Community!
